I learnt this song on my first real experience week of Georgian music, with the members of 'Mtiebi', a men's choral ensemble from Tbilisi, in the late summer of 2002. It was taught by the late Koba Tsitsishvili, with the help of Gigi Garakanidze, the son of the late Edisher Garakanidze who, together with Joseph Jordania, started to teach people in the UK the wonders of Georgian music, before his tragic death in 1998.

(Gigi is now leading 'New Mtiebi' with wonderful results and the choir now includes children and young people. This is a wonderful example of how music survives and grows out of awful tragedy.) Anyway, I'm sure you'll enjoy the song!

For your information, 'Perkhuli' is simply the name of a round dance and 'Guruli' means that it comes from the Western Georgian region of Guria, on the shores of the Black Sea.
