This holiday duo for F horn and trombone is based on the hymn tune "Besançon," a traditional French carol named for a town in Northeastern France, near where it probably originated. It was first sung as a Christmas carol to the anonymous text “Shepherds, shake off your drowsy sleep,” but is best known today for setting the 1928 Advent text “People, Look East” by English writer Eleanor Farjeon (1881-1965). The trombone part can also be played by euphonium, bassoon, cello, or–with the included alternate Bb treble part–tenor sax or baritone TC.

Grade 3 - Duration 1:30
