The Pavane is a very famous work originally for orchestra with optional chorus and was dedicated to Fauré’s patron Elisabeth, comtesse Greffulhe. This arrangement was specially written for first performance by Lawerence Power (viola) and Annabelle Meare (vln) for her brother’s wedding. It features both solo instruments equally so there are some fairly high viola bits! (Nothing Lawerence couldn’t handle!)
