This piece has a programme. A farmer is driving his horse and cart home with the harvest. He passes through a dark and more menacing but familiar wood to emerge into the fields again before drawing slowly, triumphantly and gladly home into his farmyard.Or something like that. Bring out the main melody, don't jazz it up.Take it all at a steady pace. In the piano part use the pedal to sustain the minims in the bass throughout the piece. This a duet rather than a solo item - just like the farmer and his vehicle!This new version gives more opportunity for syncopation in the sax part.
