This partita has an average length of about ten minutes if the metronome markings are roughly followed and it is in six short movements:

1 Andante 2 Adagio 3 Lento 4 Andantino 5 Moderato 6 Allegretto

1 The name “Dorian” refers to the ancient Greek musical mode from E to E (known as Phrygian in modern usage) and bears no relationship to the ancient Phrygian mode which is the mode from D to D (which in turn is called Dorian by misinformed medieval theory).

2 The name “Hypodorian” (meaning that it dominates on the Dorian from the interval of a fifth below Dorian) refers to the ancient Greek musical mode from A to A and bears no relationship to “Aeolian” or other such medieval non-existent entities as far as Ancient Greek Aristoxenian Theory of Music is concerned.
