"Overture" began initially with the first polka-theme only, which was composed just for fun anyway. The earlier title I gave to this piece was "poco a polka", which was scraped (thankfully!) by the time I succumbed to the urge to expand and extend the piece into the polythemic orchestral suite you see here. Personally, the title "La Grande Overture" sounded a little too cheesy for my taste, but I couldn't think of a better title to describe a piece with such a big ending. So "La Grande" stuck, and I certainly hope that it won't sway your opinions towards this piece.
