Outside the Bachs is so named because, while it is a fugue of sorts, it eschews the contributions to that genere by Johann Sebastian Bach and Company Incorporated. If there are any operative principals in this piece they are more closely related to M.C. Escher than to any musician. This piece is dedicated with deepest appreciation to Kenneth Freed and members of the orchestra who strove mightly to bring this thing to life.
