A 2 minute meditative, flowing chorale prelude for organ based on the beautiful hymn tune "Hyfrydol" (used for various hymns, including the "Alleluia, sing to Jesus". An idea for a piece to play before a service or during communion perhaps.
A popular Welsh tune, the melody Hyfrydol was composed by Rowland Hugh Prichard (1811-1887) in 1830 when he was only nineteen. He was a textile worker and an amateur musician. He had a good singing voice and was appointed precentor in Graienyn. Many of his tunes were published in Welsh periodicals.
HYFRYDOL (Welsh for "tuneful" or "pleasant") is often used as the tune for "Love Divine, All Loves Excelling", and "Alleluia! Sing to Jesus".
