You are purchasing high quality sheet music PDF files suitable for printing or viewing on digital devices.A verse-anthem for AA soli, SAATB chorus and organ by the early-17th-century composer John Holmes (d.1629), reconstructed from the organ scores by Ian Payne. Although a fragmentary work (no voice parts survive), the solos are clearly notated in the organ parts and it is perhaps Holmes's most easily-restorable verse anthem. It is scored for two countertenor (alto) soloists, and was probably composed while he was organist of Winchester Cathedral. With its regular, metrical-psalm-like solo phrases, it harks back to the late Elizabethan period.
