Add a touch of the mysterious East to your brass trio repetoire. Tchaikovsky’s Arabian Dance is a beautiful piece with a truly haunting quality. The key to a great performance here is to play the piece expressively with close attention to dynamics (brass instruments can sound fantastic when played quietly with a distant quality). Sure, the obstinate sections in the trombone part are tricky but if played sympathetically as an accompaniment to the two trumpets, can be very rewarding. Breath marks have been left to the player’s discretion. This arrangement is suitable for both teacher and student workouts and short concert performances. Enjoy!
