This hymn is straight from the "Sacred Harp" hymnal, first published in the early 19th century. I've changed a few words, but they are substantially the same as the original. The original key was F, but in the great tradition of Sacred Harp, transposed it to a more singable pitch. The Tenor part can and probably should be sung by both men and women. An alternative performance option would be to have swap the tenor and the treble part, or have both men and women sing both parts.
