The beautiful opus 40 Nocturne for strings. This arrangement is intended for a late middle school band - say 8th graders here in the US. To make it accessible to them, I’ve change the key from B major to B flat major and the original time signature from 12/8 to 3/4 with the tempo of the original 8th becoming the quarter here. Technically the piece should not present too much challenge, though it may push the student’s ranges a bit here and there. It will help teach breath control & staggered breathing within sections, as well as expression and maintaining a "long line".
