Night-Time in New York is written for 4 C flutes, Alto and Bass. Flutes 1 and 2 have the biggest range (Top G a few of times) flute 3 is a smaller range and flute 4 is quite simple. Alto has some interesting melodic lines and the Bass provides support giving movement and flow when possible.
It has 3 sections before returning to the opening them once more at the end-then small coda. I wanted to give young flutists a taste for some bluesy ideas. It is 3 mins 30 in length and the whole score is on youtube link below for you to assess suitability.
I have set it at intermediate, but some flute 3 and 4 parts I would say are early intermediate.
Should work well for concerts, recitals, productions, even has a "Christmas tint". It is something perhaps a little different for the repertoire.
