I arranged this dompe (a sad English or Irish song) from one of the oldest existing English harpsichord collections. The original score placed the two ostinato accompanying voices in the left hand and the melodic line in the right. I have added simple rhythmic patterns for percussion, and altered the lower voices to fit the ranges of violin and viola. This piece would be great for performing at renaissance festivals, madrigal dinners…See also 'Ballet du Roy pour Sonner Apres', which is arranged for the same mixed ensemble.
