My favourite version of this is actually quite different. It was played my my friend Kelly Hood from Lively, ON, on her Scottish border pipes in the key of 'A' mixolydian mode. The flat seventh is extrememly beautiful and gives this a totally different flavour. But this setting is the more common one. Apparently this tune was originally of Spanish origin, and was adopted into the Irish repertoire hundreds of years ago. For more interesting history, see:
