I studied with Steve Martland in the 90's and found my compositional voice through his guidance and advice. I found him to be generous with his time and always willing to go out of his way to help a young composer.
On hearing about his untimely death at the age of 53 I sat down and wrote this piece, why, I don't know, but it seemed like the right thing to do.
