Whilst I have had some fun with adding ’extra’ parts to exisitng classical pieces, on this occasion I have tried to complement Beethoven’s original piano piece by adding two flute parts over the top, which hopefully does not significantly alter the mood and sense of the original.
Originally, under the title of Moonlight Obbligata!, I simply added a second piano part over the top, but felt that the sound of two flutes would be equally as suited. In order to make their lives easier, I have transposed Beethoven’s original up a semitone into D minor - a nicer key for flutes!
In 2020, I made a few minor tweaks, and hopefully my flautist friend, Lynsey Blair, up in Cheshire will give it a whirl online, no doubt double-tracking both flute parts.
Separate parts for Flute 1 and Flute 2 are available on request.
