This contemplative piece for piano (app. 2 min. 30 sec) was loosely inspired by jazz pianist Bill Evan's "Peace Piece." Unlike Evan's composition, this meditation moves through various key centers, exploring contrasting iterations of the simple rhythmic motif that underlies the entire work. The performer should use pedal throughout. The section located at the key change can be played a bit faster than the opening passage. Rubato should be used especially at the ends of phrases.
