The main tune, by the 14th century composer & poet Guilliaume de Machaut, had been buzzing around my head for ages & I’d always wanted to re present it in some form or other as it’s so attractive. I started arranging & this is what I ended up with. 6 minutes of patchwork A B A form for a healthy intermediate string group which might also benefit from the modest addition of some gentle ad lib percussion ? The piece also alludes to some other sources, one of which will be most familiar to the performers . The title is a confusion best not dwelt upon ,but I ended up enjoying the alliteration ,so retained it.
