The rich textures sound just as good on clarinet as on brass, though things work best if you can find a bass clarinet to play the bottom part. There is an alternative Eb Alto Clarinet part 4. When we perfomed this, we played at the beginning of a concert from a balcony. If you have spare cathedral near you, that would be the place to do it. A nice local connection, Matthew Locke was a boy chorister at Exeter Cathedral, and his name remains carved in the choir stalls as graffitti.
