You are purchasing high quality sheet music PDF files suitable for printing or viewing on digital devices.Music is a language. Music notation is a complex system of symbols used to represent that language.
I believe that music notation can be used for aiding memory. Kids can learn to read music and kids can learn music grammar at the same time.
This piece is arranged with simplified notation to meet the Paint with Piano Red Level Requirements. You can find more information about the curriculum (currently under development) at Paintwithpiano.com. I really encourage you to try this out with young students.
For teachers interested in this material the following information will be helpful:
- Think of this notation as a movable Do staff
- Red = Tonic (rest)
- Blue = Dominant (tension)
- Yellow = Sub Dominant (intensifier)
- Orange = Sub Mediant (weak rest or weak intensifier i.e. red+yellow)
- Purple = Mediant (weak rest or weak intensifier i.e. Red+Blue)
- Dark Yellow = Super Tonic (intensifier)
- Dark Blue = Leading Tone (tension)
- Green = Applied chords
- Black = Nonharmonic tones
