Luigi Cherubini composed his Mass in A in 1825 for the coronation of Charles X. The first performance took place at Rheims on 29 May 1825. The Marcia religiosa, sometimes referred to as the Communion March, was praised by Berlioz as being "sublime" and "…equal of the one in Alceste."
