The Maori place name 'Mangatangi' has 2 possible meanings: 'babbling brook' and 'weeping stream'. The outer sections reflect the first meaning, and the central section reflects the second. I was inspired to write this piece while more-than-slightly lost in my car, somewhere around Mangatangi Road in rural New Zealand!
