Garry Stewart wrote the text of Loves Fidelite as wedding present to celebrate my wedding to his sister, Leonie. In the music I have tried to capture the ardour and passion of Garry’s poetry. The ’senza misura’ passages should be sung somewhere between how
you would sing plainchant and Aglican metrical psalms, letting the words guide the phrasing. None of the tempi should be too rigid. Loves Fidelitie was first performed in April 2000 by the Chamber Choir of George Watson’s College, directed by Norman Mitchell.
