This quartet was written for a devised piece of music theatre which used Bizet's Carmen as the stimulus. No prizes for spotting the Habanera rhythm, although it would usually be in duple time! In this song the Carmen character is the soprano rather than the alto. In our production we also used this as a finale for the chorus which also worked well, the altos managing the tenor part!
