Single Movement extracted from Missa Australis (1988), which is also available complete on sibeliusmusic.com.
This Mass setting, for SATB, was commissioned by St Mary's Cathedral Choir, Sydney for the Bicentennial Celebrations of the Cathedral in September 1988. Commission 'rules' were that it was to be set to the English text for the Mass, it had to be simple and yet 'popular' in style, with no vocal solos and the flexibility to be accompanied by piano, organ and/or orchestra. (Orchestral parts are available from the composer). In addition to performances with orchestra, St Mary's Cathedral Choir has successfully performed the Kyrie/Gloria on its international tours and in concert, with organ accompaniment and a special trumpet part written for Australian trumpeter, Paul Goodchild.
