Friedrich Kalbfuss, born 28 July 1903 (Braunschweig), died 21 July 1945 (Bad Schwalbach) Spends his youth in Darmstadt. Begins 1922 to study Art and Art Theory in Munich. Then apprenticeship with stage designer Ludwig Sievert in Frankfurt and decides to take on stage design as a profession. Stage design in Osnabrück and Frankfurt/Main. From 1928 to 1933 at the New Theatre in Königsberg (Kaliningrad), afterwards in Mannheim and Kassel. Drafted for Military service towards the end of the war. Prisoner of War in an American camp. Dies from Typhus. – Was active in Literature as playwright and poet.
I set his poem "Lobgesang" (Song of Praise) to music for mixed choir and organ.
