Jean-Francois Dandrieu (1682 - 1738) was an influential French composer, he was student of Moreau. A gifted and precocious child, he gave his first public performances when he was 5 years old, playing the harpsichord for Louis XIV, King of France, and his court. He was appointed the organist at St. Merry and later accepted same duties at St. Barthélemy. In 1721, Dandrieu assumed a very important position of the Royal chapel organist. Highly acclaimed as a harpsichord composer, Dandrieu composed a great number of works for the instrument including suites and trio sonatas. Dandrieu’s organ Noels were very popular at the time.
