The "Barcarolle" was originally one of twelve piano pieces written by Tchaikovsky for the months of the year, this one representing June. It has a beautiful, lazy, melancholic melody and a lively central section. This wind quintet arrangement by Philip Le Bas attempts to capture the lyrical nature of the piece using the different colours of the instruments involved.
