So this is a pretty loose piece. I realize that the lyrics don't make much sense, take them for what they're worth. Be expressive, and this piece works best with a small ensemble, maybe eight to sixteen men. Naturally the Tenor I's D's are in falsetto, as is much of that top part. Follow the melodic lines for your dynamics, and rhythms for tempi. Apply rubato as you see fit, and take the piece at whatever pace you feel is suitable for your performance.
