Dedicated to the memory of Arthur Ransome, author of the childrens adventure novel: "Swallows and Amazon." This piece forms part of the 2nd Movement of my 4 Mov. 'Swallows and Amazons' suite for orchestra. I think the difficulty would be classified as for grade 6 to 8. In this movement called Island Life, I have tried to represent the children of Arthur Ransome's novel, playing and pretending to be pirates at their camp site, on one of the islands depicted in his book.
