Alex Lithgow wrote this march as a test piece for the 1909 New Zealand brass band contest, held in Invercargill that year. His brother Tom had edited the work before the contest committee considered and accepted it. The march was almost forgotten until WWI, when in 1916 the city of London held a parade to honor the Gallipoli veterans. Seeking to honor the ANZAC (Australia-New Zealand) veterans, the British military bands played "Invercargill." The London crowds loved the march and it quickly became a hit.

My editing mainly involved dynamics and articulations. I have also clarified some of the voice leading. Also I have chosen to play the trio 1st time piano, 2nd time forte. If you object, please play the trio piano both times.
