This latest trio for double basses is pizz throughout. Any of the parts can be played on electric bass. The third part goes down to low Db, so a five-string bass is best for this part (or a 4-string with C extension). The frequent reharsal marks are designed to facilitate improvisation between sections, wherever the performers might wish. The tempo can be modifed in any section, too; I could hear the piece considerably slower, for example. It will depend on the sonorities and balance of the three instruments.

This music is enthusiastically dedicated to my friend & bass ensemble partner, virtuoso bassist, composer, bandleader, & proud papa, Mr. Victor Bateman.
