"I am the Greatest the World has ever known" comes from Daniel Laubacher's children's opera "Analykah" which is about a girl with a voice so beautiful that, when singing from the heart, she can bring water to the driest of wells. This song is sung after Wazir, the self-crowned King of Ubar, has kidnapped Analykah so that she could "sing" for the water his kingdom so desperately needs. He comes across arrogantly in his aria and it is obvious that he has supressed the people of the kingdom. The guards sing in support of his madness.
