What could I say about this one? Even more difficult than composing a piece is to write about it. Should we analyse its formal structure, harmony, couterpoint or something else, or chat about the circumstances under which it was created? A lugubrious winter evening, for example that might have triggered the spark of inspiration, perhaps? Part of the themes came to me in a dream; that’s why the subtitle reads in German: "Something dreamt on 25 January 2013." And part I got by playfully fooling around on the viola without any definite aim or purpose.

On 25 January 2013 I dreamt I was walking along a broad river with mountains on either side and then hiking downhill into a muddy ground that forced me to return. But then the river was dried out and had become a parched valley with cracks. I thought how come that I cant walk this route no longer if I had done so a thousand of times. Then there was a bronze sculpture wedged in between the trees, and when I began to hum this melody, it started moving. Frightened, I hastened to hike downwards again towards the muddy ground.

Hence the title Ύπνομουσιχή or "Hypnomusic."
