Lyndall Henning's Hymn to the Sea, a poem of musical metaphors for the sea, lends itself perfectly to musical setting. With such stark analogies as the wind singing out fanfares and waltzes pattering on rocks, the setting is in the most part literal, attempting to bring out textures and techniques associated particularly with voices and organ. The piece was written for soloists and chamber organ, but would perfectly suit a choir of good singers with a church organ.
I have set a low price on this music as several copies would be needed for performance.
