This is one of a collection of elaborations for trumpet and organ on well-known hymn tunes.

The descant may be used as printed, ie. sopranos singing simultaneously with the trumpet elaboration (during the final verse).

Alternatively, the trumpet could play the descant line during the penultimate verse, as a prelude to playing the elaboration for the final verse.

If sung, Hyfrodol may be used to the words ’Ye that know the Lord is gracious’ (Hymns Ancient and Modern Revised, No.260) or to Alleluia! (AMR No.399).
