Juxtaposed meters of 3/4 and 6/8, left-hand finger-tapping on cello tops representing the staccato of dancers’ heel clicks, and violins strummed guitar style all come together in a Norteno-style Huapango commissioned by the Wilson Junior High School Orchestra in El Centro California, Marissa Gohl director. Although commissioned in 2014, it took until May 25, 2016 for the piece to be premiered at the Ninth Annual "Concert of Premieres" at Southwest High School, El Centro, CA, by the combined Wilson Jr. H. S. Orchestra (Marissa Gohl, director) and the Southwest H. S. Chamber Orchestra (Dr. Matthew Busse, director), with the composer conducting.
