This song about the long standing traditional hop harvest was first published, described as "A New Song addressed to the Farmers of Kent", in the "Kentish Gazette" on 4th September 1776. Recently Bob Kenward included it in a collection he compiled for the Kent volume of the educational project "Singing Histories".
