This solo for oboe with piano accompaniment was inspired from walking on the Hindscarth massif in the Newlands Valley in the Lake District UK. The slow opening section describes the openness and beauty of the scenery, moving into the irregular metered faster section describing the stoney descent. The slow feature returns at the end as reminder of the grandeur of the mountain scene. This piece is also available for Bb Clarinet and piano.
