In the early 1980s, Canadian / American composer and french hornist began writing music based on the ancient Chinese book of divination, the I Ching. He has composed over 325 pieces of music in this style, and his work has been performed all over the world. His music is based on the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching, which are symbolized by different trigrams. Each hexagram has a different meaning, and the music reflects this. The composer often uses different instruments to represent the different trigrams, and the music is often very peaceful and meditative.
