Background:
I have been a long-admirer of the majestic Hallelujah Chorus, and when looking for a unique piece for the timbrels in Christmas 2011, was inspired to write this arrangement.
The original piece is one of the most well-known parts of Handel’s Messiah, and popular (of course) particularly around Christmas.
(Written especially for the Cannock S.A. Band timbrels 2011.)
Suggested playing:
The piece should keep a good striving beat, with special emphasis on each time the melody repeats the phrase “Hallelujah”.
It is a modern (and different) arrangement of the traditional version, but should try and re-enact the same excitement and majesty.
Clearly the band parts are merely an accompaniment, but should give the audience the desire to tap their feet along to the beat.
