This waltz should be played with a definite Viennese waltz lilt. It celebrates a grand ball in Penzance in Cornwall when local Victorian society gathers formally after an afternoon on the nearby beach at Marazion which is on the shore opposite the famous island of St Michael's Mount, home of a local aristocratic family. .. or it is just a fun piece in this genre!
