This anonymous melody appeared in Freylinghausen's "Geistreiches Gesangbuch" (Halle, 1704), where it was set to the words "Gott sei Dank in aller Welt". It is also known as "Lübeck", "Berlin" and "Carinthia". The chorale was adapted and harmonized by W. H. Havergal (1793-1870) for "Hymns Ancient & Modern" (1861).
