CAROLS FOR AUDIENCE AND ORCHESTRA
Many orchestras, both amateur and professional, have Christmas Concerts that encourage the audience to ’sing-along’ with carols. Here is an easy arrangement that gives the orchestra something more to play than just the same ’hymnbook’ version, verse after verse. Divide the audience into the ladies and children to sing the Page and the King by the men! The conductor, or MC, should tell the audience that there are intros. to some of the verses and a slow up for the minor section AND they should watch the conductor!!!
All these ’Carols for Audience’ have been played by the Kent Concert Orchestra at their annual Christmas Concerts in the Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury and now by various orchestras all over the world due to the wonder of Sibelius.
Scoring: 2(2nd plays Picc.);2;2;2 4;2;3;1 Timps; S.Drum: Cymb; Harp(Optional); Strings.
The MP3 is a recording of the first run through at rehearsal - taken a little too fast!!! It takes at least 30 seconds to start so be patient!
