This piece was inspired by Göbekli Tepe, a 12,000 year old archeological site discovered in Turkey. The music depicts in 6 parts the beginning of a civilization united by a caste of Priest Kings, the building of a monumental temple complex, a sacred hunt to consecrate the temple and the subsequent ritual sacrifice of the Priest King who himself is replaced by his executioner, forming a symbolic cycle of life and rebirth.

This story is of course entirely fictional and historically inaccurate. However, ritual regicide was practised in many regions of the world in ancient times and the people who built Göbekli Tepe were most certainly hunter-gatherers so I thought a sacred hunt part would feel appropriate.

Part I: Gathering on the Plains Part II: Erecting the Temple Part III: The Sacred Hunt Part IV: Power of the Priest King Part V: Ritual Regicide Part VI: The Cycle Continues
