About the Composer: François-Auguste Gevaert (31 July 1828 – 24 December 1908) was a Belgian musicologist and composer, born in Huise, near Oudenaarde. Gevaert's journey from being a baker's son to a celebrated composer and musicologist is inspiring. He studied at the Ghent Conservatory, became the organist of the Jesuit church in Ghent, and later won the Belgian Prix de Rome. His career took him to Paris, Spain, and Italy, and he eventually became the head of the Brussels Conservatoire. Although his own compositions are largely forgotten today, his legacy as a teacher, historian, and lecturer endures.

Notable Works: Treatise on Instrumentation, Vade Mecum for organists
