The second movement follows on from the original composition (which had an unexpected burst of fame) using the same two basic cells. I intended to create a light intermezzo, but the material moved into a different area as the writing progressed. The coda is a reflective cadenza, without any pyrotechnics, for the violin and vibraphone using material from the first and second movements. A third movement is projected.
