It. fuga lit.'flight':- L.fuga.] Hastily written in reaction to the shock following the tragic events of September 11. Does the title refer to any of the doomed flights on that fateful day or, perhaps, to the flight of the hunted fugitives? In either case the reference to Dies Irae following the abrupt stop in the closing bars is self explanatory, and the avoidance of a home-key gives a feeling of tonal instability while at the same time retaining some sense of baroque character.
