Ernest Bristow Farrar was born at Blackheath in 1885 and was killed in action in the World War on September 18, 1918 in France. An English composer and organist who studied at the Royal College of Music he held the post of organist at the English Church in Dresden. His works include the English Pastoral Impressions for orchestra; The Blessed Damozel for solo, chorus and orchestra; organ preludes, piano pieces and some fine songs.
